Learn from the violinist who was the first female concert mistress at the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, one of Austria's most traditional orchestras!
Born in Austria, Birgit Kolar began studying violin at a local music school at the age of six. A finalist and winner of the Menu in Competition, she is a former concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Rainer Küchl and his assistant Jela Špitkover after graduation in Switzerland. I studied with Wolfgang Schneiderhan in Lucerne, Robert Masters in London, and Josef Luitz in Vienna. After serving as the first female concert mistress at the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, she joined the Munich String Quartet, which was composed of members of the Munich Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra, as a first violinist, and as a guest concert mistress, the Bavarian State Orchestra (Munich National Song). She has also performed in orchestras such as the Theater), BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra, and Barcelona Rikeu Grand Theater. In parallel with her performance activities, she has served as a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and a visiting professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. Currently, she is energetically teaching younger generations in Barcelona, Spain. She has been active as an instructor since she was young, and her instruction based on many years of teaching experience and playing experience is not only to make music, but also to support life stages and challenges for professional musicians. It is a strength.
