Founded in 1937, Aaron Copeland School of Music is the oldest prestigious faculty of Queens College, City University of New York and continues to lead the culture of the surrounding areas such as Queens, Long Island and New York City.We have deep ties with the local community, and many activities are carried out, including public concerts by students, public schools and special programs jointly held with the elderly.The curriculum is centered around training to develop the basic skills required of musicians, such as "playing, listening, and understanding," which are closely related to each other.In the university course, in addition to the BA degree in general music education and music education, and the BM degree course in instrumental music and vocal performance, we also offer a BM degree course in which a certificate of completion of music education can be obtained.In the graduate course, we offer MA degree in composition / theory / musicology / history, jazz composition / performance, classical performance, and MS degree in music education.And the big feature of the school is the enrichment of the orchestra and the ensemble.The Queen's University Orchestra performs eight times each year, making it a meaningful place for students to gain experience as a musician.The repertoire is not limited to symphonies, but also includes oratorios and choruses, allowing students to experience a variety of musical styles.The Queen's University Wind Ensemble also performed a traditional band repertoire and original 8th century works.Much of the repertoire is unique in that it is an arrangement of songs originally written for orchestras and other ensembles.And the brass ensemble holds concerts every semester, giving brass players a place to experience group performances.There are many other options, including vocals, percussion, jazz, and baroque ensembles, so you can discover the joy of creating music as a member of the group.
