The Longy Conservatory was founded in 1915 in Boston by the Boston Symphony Orchestra's chief oboe player George Longy. In 1930, he moved to his current location, Cambridge, Massachusetts.Since its establishment, it has been conducting thorough music education with a curriculum centered on chamber music, and inherits the founder's belief that "the power born from concerts activates music research."The school's educational goals are to foster students' artistic personality, playing techniques, and leadership for the next generation.Currently, about 23 students from all over the United States and 230 countries are enrolled. The instructors are composed of about 150 people, centered on top-notch active artists. One of the great attractions is the small class of about 1 students per instructor. The university course offers a diploma acquisition course in performance and composition. In addition, a joint program with Emerson College in Boston was established. In addition to the Diploma course at the school, you can also major in liberal arts at Emerson College and earn a Diploma and BM degree. In the graduate course, we offer MM degree courses in performance, composition, dalcroze rhythm, early music, and modern American music. There is also a diploma acquisition course with an emphasis on performance and a course specializing in Dalcroze rhythm. The latter is a course in which you can obtain a qualification for children's music education and a license for general music education in partnership with the world-renowned Swiss Jack Dalkloth Institute. The school's music library houses a valuable collection centered on historic Western music such as Renaissance and Baroque. With a score of 13,000, books of 5,600, and more than 9,000 recording discs, it is very useful for students' research.
