The New England Conservatory of Music, founded in 1867, is the oldest conservatory of music in the United States and has undergone major reforms in recent years.Today, we have created a great scholarship system and always provide the highest level of environment and music education.The instructors are about 400 of the world's leading musicians.Half of the members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra are instructors or graduates of the school, which shows the high level.As a result, students from 46 states in the United States and 39 countries around the world are gathering to become top-notch musicians.The university course includes BM degree courses in instrumental music performance, jazz research, contemporary improvisation, vocal music, composition, music history / musicology, theoretical research, etc.And the feature is that the double major program is also very fulfilling.If you choose a double major in music history and music theory, you can apply at the end of the second grade.Also, if you choose two types of instrumental performance or a double major in composition, you can apply at the end of the first grade.Double majors with other schools are also available.A five-year course where you can earn a BA degree at Harvard University and an MM degree at the same school.And it is a 2-year course where you can get a BA or BS degree at Tufts University and a BM degree at the same school.In the graduate course, we offer programs centered on ensembles, practical skills in the studio, musicology and theory.Master classes, co-starring with guest artists, and repertoire classes are also held regularly.MM degree courses are available for instrumental performance, conducting, collaborative piano, jazz research, contemporary improvisation, vocal music, composition, music history / musicology, theoretical research, etc.There is also a DMA degree course for students who want to be both performers and scholars.In addition, from the fall of 2, the opera department was newly established in the artist diploma acquisition course, and it is still developing.
* Lecturers include Keisuke Wakao (oboe), Charles Schluter (trumpet), Ronald Barron (trombone), Anne Hobson Pilot (harp), and other former or active Boston Symphony Orchestra & Boston Pops Orchestra. Many members of the group are enrolled and can receive direct guidance.
