The Curtis Institute of Music, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was founded in 1924 by Mary Louise Curtis Bok.From the beginning, with the goal of "training talented young musicians to be the highest level performers," we have implemented specialized advanced education and training.Since its inception, it has long established itself as one of the world's most prestigious music colleges.The difficulty of entering the school is extremely high, and the number of successful applicants is only 160 each year.Please note that there is an age limit at the time of admission. (Performance is 21 years old or younger.) All students who enter the school after breaking through the difficulties are eligible for the scholarship system, and the tuition fee will be paid in full.In this way, the Curtis Institute of Music is the only music school in the United States that offers a thorough, high-level education and support program.The programs of interest are mainly individual guidance by well-known and high-level instructors.You can major in vocal music, keyboard instruments, instrumental music, composition, and conducting.We offer BM degree and diploma acquisition courses for students in these majors.Focusing on practical skills, theory and music research such as music history, you will study career studies, general education such as Western history and literature (no diploma course).In addition, vocal music students have an MM degree and a certificate of completion course.It is a content that can overcome weaknesses from the musical skills, language, coaching instruction, etc. required for vocalists.Also, with an emphasis on "learning from experience," we hold 125 concerts a year, such as symphonies and opera theaters.The Curtis Opera Theater by students majoring in vocal music and opera holds 1-4 performances per season, and the Curtis Symphony Orchestra holds performances at Carnegie Hall and other venues three times a season. ..Graduates include many prominent musicians, including Leonard Bernstein, composer Copeland, and young talented pianist Lang Lang.
