Mason Gross School of Music, New Jersey State University, Ratgers School of Music is located in New Brunswick, New Jersey, near Philadelphia and New York, the metropolitan cities of art and culture.Currently, there are about 520 students enrolled.We also have about 85 artist instructors who are well known both in Japan and overseas. We provide detailed and rich music education to one instructor with a small number of elite class structure of 1 to 3 students.The goal of the school is to develop students into professionals who are strong in music history and theory. For university courses, we offer courses that allow you to obtain a BM degree in performance, jazz, and music education, and a BA degree in music research.Of these, performance or jazz offers training programs to become professional musicians and music teachers.Also, in the Department of Music Education, it is attractive to be able to obtain a public school teacher's license in New Jersey upon graduation.In the graduate program, we offer MM degree courses in performance, collaborative piano, jazz research, and music education.It is also possible to aim for a DMA degree (other than jazz).There are also MA degrees in composition or music history and PhD degrees in composition or musicology. Music groups with students and teachers include pep bands, jazz, contemporary, collegium, chorus, symphony orchestra, and opera.With the addition of guest lecturers and activities of the Faculty of Dance, concerts, theatrical performances, and public lectures are energetically performed on campus almost every night.The number reaches more than 200 a year.In addition, 4 books, 2 recordings, and 7 sheet music are stored in the on-campus music library, and more than 5 recordings are stored in the media center, supporting the research of students and lecturers.
