Brandon University School of Music is located in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada.The main school building is a relatively new building opened in 2 called the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building. Equipped with a wide variety of facilities such as 1990 practice rooms, 30 studios, 30 class rooms, seminar rooms, computer music laboratories, electronic music laboratories, organ / percussion / early music studios, and recital halls.Plus, you'll get access to the finest equipment, including over 3 pianos and the latest computer hardware, software, and recording equipment.In the university course, you will take a common program in the first year, and from the second year onward, you will choose from an honors degree course, a performance course, and a music education course, and aim to obtain a B.Mus degree in each field of interest.The Honors Course is a flexible program with a focus on knowledge of music theory, composition, music history and music literature, with a choice of art, science and music education.The performance course offers specialized programs for instrumental and vocal music.Training is provided to become a professional musician.In the Music Education course, once again before the third year, choose between a four-year music education specialist or a five-year music education major.The feature is that you can obtain B.Mus and educational qualifications respectively.In the graduate program, you can earn an M.Mus degree in performance and music education.
The instructors are Canadian experienced and talented musicians, as well as leading artists such as Bob Brookmeyer (jazz), George Crumb (composer) and Marc Andre Amran (piano).In the summer, we invite prominent specialists such as Eugene Migliaro (conductor), Stanley Derusha (conductor), and Micros Zabo (vocal music) to give lectures.
In recent years, the newly established Jazz Research consists of nine jazz ensembles, which regularly hold concerts, live activities, and workshops.The annual Brandon Jazz Festival attracts thousands of fans from all over North America and makes the whole town enthusiastic.
