■ General school information ■

The Academy of Performing Arts in Prague was founded in 1945 as a university-level educational institution in music, dance, stage, film, TV and multimedia. The Prague Music Academy (HAMU) is positioned as the Faculty of Music. Its predecessor is the prestigious music academy founded in 1811. It is a prestigious school that is said to have created the Czech music base in the center of Prague, Czech Republic, which is called "Country of Strings".It is considered one of the oldest music schools in Europe and is known as the best music education institution.Even in this school with such a brilliant history, there was a time when the Nazis and communists suppressed the freedom of art and the educational condition deteriorated. Since its release in 1989, the academy has been redesigned for school management and rebuilt with better facilities. We invite not only Czech instructors but also prominent foreign instructors to teach music. It has also made remarkable progress with the cooperation of music schools in European countries. In this way, we are now working to develop young and talented musicians who will lead the music industry around the world, and have achieved great results. The graduates include Jiří Kout, a world-famous conductor who is supported by many fans in Japan, and Makiko Nakachi (piano).
The educational program is attractive for a wide range of courses and majors.Majors such as composition, conducting, opera / vocal music, keyboard instruments, stringed instruments, wind instruments, percussion instruments, music theory, music management, and sound production are available. It is possible to obtain bachelor's and master's degrees in each.He also offers PhD courses in composition, performance, music theory, sound production, and music production.Musical activities are emphasized as part of diplomatic relations, and classes at the university are conducted not only in Czech but also in English.Even if you don't speak Czech, you can rest assured that you will receive a high level education at the school. The Erasmus Program, which was introduced in 1997, has a full range of exchange programs and educational programs for international students, so international students can study with peace of mind.
