The Besancon Conservatory of Music was founded in 1860 by the city council of its predecessor, the Music School. It was recognized by the National Conservatory of Music (CNR) in 1968, and has been operated as the National Conservatory of Music (CRR) since 2006 by a wide range of local governments including the surrounding area.Currently, there are about 1,500 students and 75 instructors, including local children.The school building is a historic building built in 1720.There are 10,000 public facilities, including a library boasting 47 sheet music and 15 practice rooms, which can be used free of charge.
Practical performances include piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, sax, bassoon, trumpet, horn, trombone, tuber, violin, viola, cello, contrabass, percussion instrument, harp, pipe organ, chambero, guitar, voice, recorder, etc. You can major in baroque violin, baroque cello, and accompaniment.Lecture subjects include solfege, ecriture, music analysis, music history, etc., and you can also learn basso continuo, chamber music, improvisation, MAO (information processing), acoustic technology, and conducting.We also offer bachelor's degree courses in partnership with the university's Faculty of Music.
The city of Besançon also hosts two music festivals. One is the International Music Festival, which is famous for its high-level classical music festival and international conductor competition.The other is the Music de Ryu (Street Music) Festival, where you can enjoy various genres of music such as rock, techno, and world music under the blue sky.Besancon's unique charm is that you can experience a music festival with a completely different personality.Students can participate in some form of performance, management, volunteering, etc., so it will be a valuable experience that cannot be obtained by studying at school alone.
