■ General school information ■
The Royal Conservatory of Antwerp was founded in 1898 by the Belgian mogul Peter Benoit (composer).Since then, we have been producing excellent musicians for over 100 years. Many graduates of the Antwerp Conservatory have made significant musical contributions not only in Flanders but also internationally. It is also famous as the hometown of famous musicians such as André Cluytens (conductor) and Paul Gilson (composer). In 1993, in addition to classical music, a jazz and popular music course was set up.It is also known to have a permanent symphony orchestra among the only conservatory in Belgium and the Netherlands.World-renowned artists and educators are listed as instructors, and every day, students are given detailed individual lessons. The Royal Academy of Music in Antwerp hosts many student concerts and music projects throughout the year. These activities are not limited to the campus.Students majoring in jazz and popular music are also active in the local community, such as performing live at a cafe hopper in Antwerp. From these activities, students can become independent as musicians and gain experience to become professional musicians. The educational program offers three courses: bachelor's degree, master's degree, and postgraduate diploma. The bachelor's course offers majors in instrumental music, vocal music, music theory (harmonic and counterpoint), and jazz and popular music. The master's course adds conducting, composition and music education. After completing the master's degree, you can study concert soloists (instrumental music, vocal music), composition, piano accompaniment, chamber music, and orchestra more professionally in the post-graduate course.Of course, this requires a long time and constant effort. However, as a preparatory stage that is directly linked to future professions, it will be a good training for students and will definitely develop their abilities. In addition, it is possible to obtain a PhD in partnership with the University of Antwerp.
