In 1843, Felix Mendelssohn founded the Conservatory, the predecessor of the Leipzig University of Music, as Germany's first music education institution.After that, it continued to develop as an educational institution and became the current Leipzig University of Music.Leipzig's regional characteristics, which continue to promote music and culture, have greatly supported its development.The city is home to some of the world's most renowned music groups, including the Gewandhaus Orchestra, the St. Thomas Church Boys Choir, the Opera House and the Theater.The performances and workshops with educational institutions help to inspire students' artistry and musical flair.The educational program provides highly unique and detailed training.Major majors include early music (wind instruments, string instruments, percussion instruments), piano, conducting, early music (early music singing, natural / baroque oboe, cornet, etc.), chorus & ensemble, vocal music, composition & music theory, musical, collection, jazz. & Popular music (percussion, vocal), church music, music education. Starting in 2008, we will start a bachelor's and master's degree course. From the winter semester of 2010, you can get a degree in all majors.
The campus is adjacent to one of Germany's oldest universities and has partner programs with these other universities.Students can aim to become an artist with intelligence by studying specialized music at the school and high-level general education at other schools.In addition to the majors mentioned above, it is also possible to conduct research in specialized fields in collaboration with other universities.In Musicology and Music Therapy, there are bachelor's, master's and doctoral courses.Masters in Media and Music, Music Information Processing, Contemporary, Cultural Management, Music Journalism can earn a Diploma.
