Würzburg University of Music is a music university located in Würzburg, the starting point of the German Romantic Road. Founded in 1797, it became the Bavarian State Conservatory in 1921 and has been the current name since 1973.Currently, there are about 600 talented students enrolled.About 30 of them are from the EU and about 140 are international students from foreign countries other than the EU, creating an international environment.We offer classes in a wide range of fields such as classical, baroque, opera, jazz, musicals, and contemporary.It has a proven track record in modern educational programs as well as in classical traditions.Instructors include Christian Elsner (vocal), Bernd Glemser (piano), Zirke Tora Matthias (piano), Konrad von der Goltz (violin) and Orfeo Mandozzi (viola).There are several Japanese instructors, including Yuko Amanuma (conductor) and Naoko Akutagawa (harpsichord).From the winter semester of 2010, the existing diploma course will be changed and a new bachelor's degree course will be started. The BA performance course offers majors in accordion, early music, conducting, vocal music, guitar, jazz, church music, piano, composition, music theory, orchestra instrumental music, and organs.BA education courses include accordion, ancient music, music education (elementary school), vocal music, guitar, jazz, piano, orchestra instrumental music, and organ.The graduate course, which currently offers training classes (performance, education), master classes, and church music majors, is scheduled to begin MA (master's) acquisition courses from the winter semester of 2011.In addition, there are PhD courses in Musicology, Music Education and Music Theory.
The facility is fully equipped with more than 45,000 sheet music, more than 14,000 books, a university library with 9,500 sound sources and audiovisual materials, a computer room equipped with music software compatible with modern multimedia, an electronic music studio, and a recording studio.In addition, ensemble activities such as orchestra, chorus, chamber music, baroque, opera, new music, and jazz are actively carried out in the five large and small concert halls, and the students have gained practical experience.
