■ General school information ■

King's College London School of Music, a member of the University of London, was founded in 1964.It is one of the earliest founding faculties of the large University of London.Since then, we have developed together in cooperation with the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), Royal Academy of Music (RAM), British Library, BBC, etc.Today, he is known for his high-level research and education in the fields of performance, composition, critical theory, stage music, record music, music psychology, and analysis. In addition, the school has a culture in which students and instructors communicate closely and learn music while exploring.Without being bound by old ideas, we are constantly searching for new approaches through trial and error. In this way, we are developing well-balanced human resources who can be used in modern society through a program that encourages active learning by students. Many students are studying here with the aim of becoming internationally active musicians and researchers.
In college, we offer BMus degree courses in music history, performance, composition, and music analysis. The feature is that students can select subjects mainly for the lessons they are interested in. It is also attractive that outside educational institutions are allowed to strengthen their expertise, such as playing folk music in SOAS and classical and jazz performances in RAM.There is also a BA degree course in German & Music, including a one-year study abroad program, which is ideal for those who are interested in German culture, society and history. In the graduate program, we offer MMus degree and certificate acquisition courses in musicology, performance and composition. The Department of Musicology conducts research based on historical and analytical support. In the performance major, it is possible to strengthen practical skills with RAM even in MMus.The composition major can hone your skills regardless of genre. In addition, there is an MPhil / PhD degree acquisition course as a research course. This course has a particular reputation for studying opera, performance, composition, music theory, historyography, and 1th and 18th century music (including jazz).
