The University of Salford was founded in 1858 as the Royal Technical Institute by integrating a college founded in 1850 and a technical research institute founded in 1896.Then, in 1996, it became the University of Salford.In the Faculty of Media, Music and Performance, each faculty is known for its innovative, diverse and quality programs.In the university course of the Faculty of Music, we offer BA degree acquisition courses in music in general, popular music & recording, and popular musicology.Music in general and popular music & recording are characterized by the basics of harmony, oral training, essay writing, and the ability to learn practical skills in areas of interest.Popular Musicology studies Music Theory & Analysis, Popular Music History, Technology, Media, Sociology, Journalism, Multimedia and more.In addition, we have prepared a foundation course that is nice for international students. To prepare for BA admission, you can learn basic knowledge such as music theory, recording, computer skills, arrangement, and musicianship.It would be attractive to have private lessons for practical skills.In the graduate course, we offer MA degree, graduate diploma, and graduate completion certificate acquisition courses for composition research and performance.We specialize in contemporary fields, including popular music, jazz, electronic music, brass band, and string music, both in composition and performance.Collaboration with professional musicians, master classes, and one-on-one advice from experts are attractive.You can also get an MA degree in music criticism.
Currently, there are about 21,000 students enrolled in the entire university.We welcome more than 130 students from about 3,200 countries around the world. In 2010, it was ranked in the top 50 international student experience in a survey of more than 10 universities in the United Kingdom, and is extremely popular with international students.
