Holy Names University was founded in 1868.Located on Oakland's hills surrounded by trees, it boasts a beautiful campus with panoramic views of San Francisco and the Bay Area.Currently, there are 22 students from 21 states in the United States and 1,252 countries around the world.An educational system that makes the most of the characteristics of a small private university is attractive.For example, the university has adopted a small class system with 1 students for each professor.In addition, we have a complete support system from internships to community services such as Federal Work Studies (FWS) and part-time jobs, and individual career counseling.Similarly, the Faculty of Music has a privileged learning environment with small classes, professional music professors, well-balanced general education classes, and full support.In the university course, we offer a BA or BM degree in general music including chorus command and music technology, and a BM degree in performance (instrumental music, vocal music).In the graduate program, you can earn an MM degree in Piano Education, Vocal Education, Music Education & Kodaly Method.We also have BA / MM or BM / MM five-year programs in the piano and vocal majors.
The school emphasizes performance activities.Therefore, we offer various performance opportunities throughout the year, such as weekly labs, performance forums, and lunch concerts.In addition to the campus, we are also active in Oakland and the San Francisco Bay area.Also, if you join a music group such as an orchestra, choir, or opera workshop, you will be able to live a study abroad life where you can fully enjoy the performance.
