Connecticut College was founded in 1911 as a private liberal arts college.Currently, there are 45 students from 71 states in the United States and 1,900 countries around the world. Most of the 171 faculty members are PhD holders and excellent leaders.Classes are small, with 1 students per professor. The average size of one class is 9 people, and the maximum size is 1 people, so not only detailed education but also rich communication is possible. This blessed environment has made it a popular and highly competitive school where many students want to enroll every year. The Faculty of Music incorporates the characteristics of both the professional training of the Conservatory and the academic education of the Faculty of Music of a large university, and has a curriculum that makes the most of it.The program offers BA degree courses in the fields of performance (instrumental music, vocal music), music theory, music history, composition, music & technology, and music education. We emphasize public performance activities and are blessed with opportunities for solo recitals.Of course, we also recommend joining music groups such as orchestras, concert bands, jazz ensembles, percussion ensembles, and chamber choirs. In addition, a show is held once a year in collaboration with the Faculty of Drama. If you pass the audition, you will be able to appear in the show, so it is recommended for those who are interested in musicals.Regular master classes and lectures by inviting internationally renowned musicians, composers and researchers are also popular. In particular, at an event called the Composers Forum, students, professors, and guest composers gathered together to discuss the future of composition.Witnessing the place where such new music is born will be a valuable experience.
