Western Connecticut State University was founded in 1903.It is one of four state universities in Connecticut.The campus is located in Danbury, an hour's train ride from New York City.Currently, there are about 4 students and about 1 full-time and part-time professors.We have a small class with 6,400 to 530 students per professor.In addition, we constantly plan, evaluate, and improve curriculum and programs so that we can adapt to the diversifying times and meet the needs of various students.In addition, it is known for providing high-level social education in collaboration with local governments, Connecticut, local institutions and educational institutions, as well as advanced and innovative business communities.
The Faculty of Music has gained the support of students not only for its high-quality specialized music lessons, but also for its educational policy of acquiring general education and sociality.In the university course, we offer BA degree in liberal arts + music in general, BM degree in performance (instrumental music, vocal music), jazz research, and BS degree in music education.In the graduate program, you can get an MS degree in music education.Other attractive summer programs include stringed instruments, band & jazz, flute masterclass, and teacher training.
Since recent years, we have expanded the campus as the university grows.A new student dormitory, parking lot, and science museum have been added.Furthermore, in 2011, construction of a magnificent Visual & Performing Art Center began. Scheduled to be completed in 2013-2014, this state-of-the-art facility will enhance your passion for playing.
