Emory University was founded in 1836.Internationally known as an outstanding liberal arts college, it is one of the most prestigious schools in the southern United States.We are attracting students from all over the world in search of top-level education and research.Currently, there are approximately 13,000 students and more than 23,000 faculty and staff.As with its reputation, its achievements are reflected in the university rankings. The 2011 US News & World Report's Best College Report ranks 20th in American universities, and the 2009-2010 Kiplinger Magazine's Valuable Private University Report ranks 13th.The Faculty of Music offers innovative, dynamic programs and a vibrant environment.We have more than 60 musicians and researchers who are active in Japan and overseas as professors, and we are enthusiastically instructing students.Also, reflecting the spirit of the university that conducts liberal arts education, it is characterized by being able to broadly study not only music but also other fields.Therefore, at the same school, the educational content is 50% for specialized studies and 50% for liberal arts, and double majors such as music + medical school preparation course, low school preparation course, and business administration are also possible.
In the university course, we offer BA degree acquisition courses in a wide range of fields such as performance (instrumental music, vocal music), composition, music theory & basics of music, jazz, music history & music literature.In the graduate course, we offer MM degree and MSM degree acquisition courses with organ performance and chorus conducting.
For those majoring in performance, private lessons by guest musicians, including not only faculty members but also members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, are waiting for you.In addition to classes, there is a charge, but it is attractive to be able to take private lessons.Also, if you participate in the ensemble, you can enjoy playing at regular concerts and overseas tours.
