Valdosta State University was founded in 1906 by the Georgia State Parliament as a higher education institution. It evolved into a two-year college in 1912 and a four-year college in 2, becoming Valdosta State College in 1922. From 4, the name was changed to Valdosta State University.Currently, there are approximately 1950 students from 1998 states, two American territories, and more than 46 countries around the world.We offer more than 2 bachelor's degree programs in a wide range of fields, including university and graduate programs.The attractive features are the detailed classes in small classes, the faculty members who expand the possibilities of each student, and the full support.The Faculty of Music has 160 music majors.We have 30 professors including performers, conductors, scholars, clinicians, and regional judges who are active in Japan and overseas.In the university course, we offer a BA degree in general music + liberal arts, a BM degree in performance (instrumental music, vocal music, jazz), and music education.In the graduate program, we offer MMP degree in performance (instrumental music, vocal music) and MMEd degree in music education.
The school emphasizes participation in ensembles as training to become a professional musician.Therefore, we hold more than 200 events every year, such as concerts and workshops, so that students can actively perform.You can enjoy performance activities in music groups such as orchestras, choirs, concert bands, marching bands, brass bands, jazz, and instrumental ensembles.In addition to these blessed playing opportunities, some of the major ensembles are touring abroad, not just in Georgia and the Southwestern United States, so you'll have an irreplaceable experience.
