The University of Louisiana at Lafayette was founded in 1901 as the Industrial Institute. It became the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1960 and became the current university name in 1999.Currently, there are more than 16,000 students and more than 700 faculty members.We welcome about 106 international students from 670 countries around the world.The school's education and research program, which attracts so many students, has been highly acclaimed by the US News & World Report and The Princeton Review.
The Faculty of Music has about 200 students and more than 20 professors.There are 1 students per professor, and the average class size is 10 for university courses and 14 for graduate courses.In these small classes, we are developing professional programs to help students acquire the essential abilities of musicians such as skills, concepts and knowledge.In the university course, we offer BM degree in performance (instrumental music, vocal music), piano education, music theory / composition, jazz research, music media, and BME degree in music education (instrumental music, vocal music).In the graduate course, you can obtain an MM degree in performance (instrumental music, voice music, jazz research), music education, music theory / composition, conducting, music education, and performance education.
In addition, the music facility is one of the pride of the school.All classrooms are equipped with the latest audio and video. It has 40 practice rooms, labs, studios and technology facilities. Concert activities are active in the three halls.Students participate in orchestras, choirs, operas, brass bands, marching bands, and ensembles such as jazz and flute to hone their practical skills.Full-scale training in the jazz area, where you collaborate with army bands, air force bands, Glenn Miller Orchestra, etc., is also attractive.
