Pittsburg State University was founded in 1903 as a subsidiary of the Kansas State Emporia Normal School. It grew into a four-year college in 1913 and became known as Teachers College, Kansas.Currently, there are about 4 students from 45 states in the United States and 37 countries around the world. It has four colleges and offers over 7,000 programs in a wide range of disciplines.The Faculty of Music also has a tradition at Teachers College.It is important for students to acquire the ability to respond to educational and cultural needs as music students, members of the university community, local residents and people involved in public schools.That's why our faculty has great professionals who are active both at home and abroad.Under their thorough guidance, the students are active in the Kansas Music Teachers' Council (KMTA), Regional Conventions (SNATS), trumpet competitions and more.Compared to students from other music education institutions in the United States, they are more active and successful.
In the university course, we offer a BA degree in music (performance, music theory, music history / music literature) + other subjects, a BM degree in performance (instrumental music, voice music), and a BME degree in music education (instrumental music, voice music). .. At BM and BME, it is possible to learn basic conducting.In the graduate course, you can obtain an MM degree in performance (instrumental music, vocal music), music education (instrumental music, vocal music), and conducting (chorus, band).
