The University of Mississippi was founded in 1844 as the first higher education institution in the state of Mississippi.For 110 years since then, it has contributed to regional education, culture and economy as the only public university in the state.Currently, it has more than 10 colleges and schools, and has more than 100 programs from bachelor's degree to doctoral degree in a wide range of fields such as literature, law, business, science, and medicine.In addition to a solid educational policy based on tradition, we are also active in introducing systems that suit the times, such as online programs and study abroad.Therefore, the number of students aspiring to the school is increasing year by year.Today, we have more than 80 students from all over the United States and 20,000 countries around the world.
The Faculty of Music has a reputation for meticulous instruction that can be seen by each individual under thorough liberal arts education.Not only for individual lessons, but also for group classes, it is attractive that you do not have to worry about being left behind.Even more encouraging, the faculty has experts in each genre.You will be able to fully acquire what you have learned from them.The educational program offers a BA degree in music + other majors and a BM degree in performance (instrumental music, vocal music), music theory, and music education in the university course.In the graduate program, you can earn an MM degree in performance, music theory, choral conducting, and music pedagogy.In the field of music education, we also offer PhD degree courses.
The faculty building has been renewed in recent years and has become a school building that boasts full facilities. Many recitals and concerts are held in five halls, including two chapels.Various music groups such as orchestras, choirs, operas, jazz bands, early music, percussion instruments, African drum & dance ensembles, etc. belong to this group.If you join your favorite group, you will be able to gain a wealth of practical experience while enjoying the performance activities.
