The Faculty of Music also takes pride and responsibility in designating grants and takes the lead in contributing to the culture of the community.The students who play that role are naturally refining their academic knowledge and rich repertoire, aiming for high-quality music on their own initiative.In this environment full of motivation for learning, in the university course, we offer a BA degree in music + other subjects, and a BM degree in music (instrumental music, vocal music), composition, and music education. The BA course offers a five-year college-graduate program (advancement to MA or PhD), which is ideal for those wishing to go on to graduate school, depending on their major.The graduate course is characterized by the flexibility to study a wide range of genres.You can obtain an MA degree in music research (performance, historical performance, music theory, composition, conducting) centered on music history & music literature, and music education.In addition, it is possible to obtain a MAT degree in a program affiliated with the Faculty of Education in Pedagogy.
In addition to classes, music activities such as concerts and recitals are always held throughout the year, and special programs such as piano and string instrument projects, jazz festivals, and chant gala are held.I am blessed with the opportunity to perform on and off campus, so I can live a fulfilling musical life.You can also get a broader perspective by studying leisurely and calmly in the friendly university city of Durham.
