New Mexico State University was founded in 1888.Recognized by the Land Grant University by the US government, it has grown from a college specializing in agriculture and mechanical engineering to a high-level higher education institution. It became New Mexico State University in 1960.Today, it is also a successful NASA space grant.With 5 campuses in the state, 9 schools and colleges, and excellent programs in over 100 disciplines.The city of Las Cruces, where the main campus is located, is a beautiful university city with mountains and deserts.It is popular in an environment where you can feel bright and motivated because it is easy to spend many sunny days.Approximately 50 students from 70 states in the United States and more than 16,500 countries around the world are enrolled in search of this rich learning environment.The Faculty of Music is a historic educational institution that originated in a music school for local citizens and students, founded in 1890.Even now, as a faculty, the spirit of lifelong education and cultural contribution through music is inherited.Therefore, we have a good reputation not only for practical skills but also for programs that acquire comprehensive skills such as knowledge, culture, creativity and research mind.In the university course, we offer BM degree in performance (instrumental music, vocal music), BM degree in music business, and BME degree in music education (instrumental music, vocal music).In the graduate program, you can obtain an MM degree in performance, conducting (orchestra, chorus, brass band), and music education.
Various music groups such as orchestras, choirs, operas, pep bands, marching bands, and jazz belong to the ensemble.Students are studying daily at the proud music center overlooking the vast grounds surrounded by greenery, and are working hard on concerts and recital activities.The school recommends playing in public places in the community and state, so it is one of the attractions that students can naturally acquire professionalism and sociality.
