twenty-second to thirtieth of July 2025
The Tuscan Summer Music Festival Master Class is a classical music master class and Italian culture course held at the Tuscan Summer Music Festival. It will be held in San Donato in Poggio, in the Chianti region, a major wine producing region in Italy, about 20 km from Florence and Siena. The course will focus on piano, violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, oboe, guitar, and chamber music. The main feature of this course is to learn from famous Italian professors and enjoy music and your stay. Each course will focus on melody, phrases, pronunciation, expression, and how to produce a natural and cantabile sound. These have been directly linked to Italian music for centuries and have had a great influence on Italian composers. The "sound" that developed in Italy has been passed down not only to vocal music and opera, but also to instruments. The course will focus on Italian music and style, but you are free to bring any piece of music you like. If a group can be formed among the participants, they can also take chamber music lessons. The results of the seminar will be fully demonstrated in the many concerts held during the seminar. The concert for selected participants will be held at Santa Maria della Neve Church. It will also be a chance to enjoy the sound of the church. You will surely feel that music is rooted in Italian culture, and that music is about enjoying sound. Students will be confirmed in the order of application, so please apply early. You can take this opportunity to enjoy Florence, the city of art, before or after the seminar.
