Klagenfurt Music International Summer Workshop

Country: Austria
City: Klagenfurt

A music forum that combines tradition and avant-garde in southern Austria

A classical and jazz music festival that is held following the historic ad lib performance music festival.Let's stimulate your sensibility with various workshops!
April 2024th - May 7th, 7
The Klagenfurt International Summer Music Seminar is held in Klagenfurt, a city in southern Austria known as the ``Oasis of Music.'' This festival, which is a continuation of the improvisational performance festival started by Friedrich Gulda, has been gaining recognition over the years as a music festival that incorporates classical music, jazz, jazz ensembles, improvisational workshops, and more. Held in the majestic atmosphere of a former Cistercian abbey in the city's Victoring district, the Music Forum is a true fusion of tradition and avant-garde. From 2012 to 2016, it was held under the theme of "NEW WORLD Series" and was followed by North America (2012), Asia (2013), Africa (2014), Latin America (2015), and Australia and Oceania (2016). Ta. In 2017, in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the music education institution BRG Klagenfurt-Victoring, we focused on "diversity". In 2018, a wide range of courses will be held, from classical to jazz. In 2019, the event was held with the focus on allowing listeners to enjoy contemporary music by John Cage titled "Happy New Ears." From 2020, we no longer have a theme, but we continue to try new things in our seminars. Composers from all over the world gather in Klagenfurt every year when the city hosts the biennial Gustav Mahler Composition Prize competition. In addition to high-level lessons and workshops, we also hold many concerts in each of our instrument courses, such as classical and jazz. Recommended for those who want to spend their days together! There are no jazz courses listed, so please contact the and vision counselor. Break out of the confines of music genres and expand your worldview.
