Intensive English courses are offered monthly at the English Center operated by the University of Victoria. We have adopted a teaching method called the communicative approach, and our goal is to improve our English proficiency through role-playing and other means.Participation in discussions and class activities is also required and may be held jointly with other classes.
There are two types of activities, free and paid.Free ones include dancing, sports, hiking and volunteer activities, while paid ones include Vancouver travel, bowling, ice skating and hockey games. Not only will you be able to improve your English through these activities, but you will also be able to quickly interact with students of different nationalities, so be sure to participate actively, whether paid or free.
You can choose to stay in a homestay or a dormitory. The dormitory has frequent activities in the evenings and weekends, so this is recommended for those who want to have a lively and enjoyable time with other international students.Meals in the cafeteria are included.
The University of Victoria has a great deal of facilities such as a computer lab, cafeteria, gym, recreation center and library, which are freely available to English Center students.
