Brandon Ridenauer, a world-renowned trumpeter from Michigan, USA, began his musical career when his father taught him piano at the age of five. In fifth grade band class, he wanted to play the drums, but his parents and band director opposed his choice, so he chose the trumpet. This choice worked for him, as he improved his trumpet skills rapidly and eventually entered the Juilliard School. While at Juilliard, he had the opportunity to perform with students of the world's top brass ensemble, the Canadian Brass, which became the biggest turning point in his life. A year later, he joined this traditional Canadian Brass as the youngest member ever. From there, his life was a blast. He has performed in all the most famous concert venues around the world, on television and radio, recorded 5 albums, and been nominated three times for the Juno Award, the Canadian equivalent of the American Grammy. He has also performed with big names in various styles, including Sting, James Taylor, Yo-Yo Ma, Wynton Marsalis, John Williams, and the New York Philharmonic. After seven years with the Canadian Brass, he left the group and based in New York, where he developed crossover music that fuses classical and other music as a soloist and ensemble, and was highly praised around the world. In 5, he rejoined the Canadian Brass and is coolly active in addition to his own musical activities. Brandon is also passionate about education, and teaches at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York, the Manhattan School of Music, the Mannes School of Music, and the New School. In addition to developing strengths, he strives to eliminate weaknesses, and ultimately teaches to ensure that players do not become performers who rely only on technique.
